GLTPA (Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association ), WPLA (Wisconsin Professional Loggers Association), and FISTA (Forest Industry, Safety and Training Alliance) have merged as of January 1, 2007, and became the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association.
The Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association (GLTPA) represents the forest products industry in Michigan and Wisconsin by supplying member services to large and small businesses, professional loggers, professional landowners, haulers, truckers and training specialists.
The Purpose of GLTPA is to practice, promote, and enhance the forest
products industry through public education, professional training and
sustainable forestry practices to protect the forests' renewable resources
for generations to come. This non-profit association is proud to represent
the hard working people that we call members. There is strength in
numbers. With your help, we can make a difference.
Representing You
GLTPA keeps and eye on local, state, and federal issues impacting the forest products industry. Two separate legislative committees – one for Michigan and one for Wisconsin – monitor the ever-changing laws and regulations to create a unified voice and lobbying effort.
Working For You
GLTPA is involved with many programs that create and maintain public
goodwill and understanding such as Log A Load for
Kids, the highly rated
GLTPA Magazine,
Lakes States
Logging Congress, which is the largest Midwest's Trade Show event, and
also funds a scholarship through the UW Stevens Point. GLTPA provides a
variety of educations services, such as SFI® training, Master Logger
Certification®, and annual conferences.
